Infusing European charm into a family home
The Woodland house
was built just prior to 2000 & the original kitchen with raised panel cherry cabinets was due for a refresh. The existing footprint of the kitchen was not changed, but leveraged to give balance to existing windows & door openings. Floor-to-ceiling cabinets in the refrigerator alcove took the place of an original desk area, which the homeowner no longer needed.
Creamy cabinets along the perimeter with aged brass hardware upped the charm of the main cooking areas. A stained island with antique bronze hardware balanced the color of the perimeter cabinetry and also keeps the microwave close, but tucked away.
The large square island is a singular marble slab & makes a perfect space for gathering friends & family. Marble is also used as a countertop & backsplash along the perimeter of the kitchen. A small ledge on the range wall gives just enough storage for both decorative & functional items.
