A historic church building for a contemporary church.
Clifton Baptist Church
……is housed in a historic building on Louisville’s Frankfort Avenue originally built in 1937. The existing sanctuary had beautifully detailed millwork & an enormous barrel vaulted ceiling. The finishes were updated in both the sanctuary and identical, mirrored lobby entrances.
The existing space was loaded with architectural details, but felt “heavy” with dark millwork & a lack of modern lighting. The contractor added can lights throughout, re-lamped the existing pendant fixtures & added cove lighting above the crown molding. The new lighting was paired with an updated, yet traditional color scheme & the congregation selected new stadium style seating to enhance the comfort level of the seating.
By highlighting architectural details, but keeping everything neutral Clifton has a welcoming, warm space to invite visitors & members alike to its gatherings.
